1973 Volkswagen ‘The Thing’
A very rare VW in the UK in wonderful, usable condition.
A 1973, Mexican built ‘The Thing’, imported from the USA in December 2017 and kept by its UK owner until now. The car shows two owners on the V5C as the first was the importer. Known worldwide as the Type 181, and the Trekker in the UK. Ours is an ex California car that was restored there some time ago. The restoration has held up very well and the car presents beautifully. As is often the case, the car came from the USA with no history. We have serviced the engine and brakes and she drives beautifully. The tachometre shows 32,228 miles but this cannot be verified.
Pumpkin Orange with black vinyl seats and black roof. Wooden slatted floors, rugged tyres, body coloured interior and ‘The Thing’ graphics.
Extremely rare to find in this condition in this country, completely standard US spec throughout. The body and paint present very well and the interior looks fantastic with perfect vinyl seats, varnished floors and seat belts front and back. Under the hood is fantastically clean with new looking heater and fuel tank and a spare wheel. The engine bay is very tidy and the wheels are clean with very nice hubcaps. All the chrome presents very well and the roof looks almost new. Very little to no rust on this example! Tax and MOT exempt, but our car passed its test in 2018 for registration with no advisories. The tyres look new and have lots of tread.
We are 30 seconds from junction 2a off the M26 and 5 minutes from junction 2 off the M20. Viewing strictly by appointment. Part exchange considered. FINANCE AVAILABLE ON THIS CAR. Ask for a quote.
