1981 Citroen CX Familiale

A remarkable 3 previous owner 8-seater CX with just 33,700 miles and thoroughly sorted.

HISTORY

Supplied by Ascot Service Station Citroen in June 1981 to a Mrs Islam. The current owner purchased the car from a collection in early 2023 where we believe it had been since 2005 after being purchased from Simon Percival Motors in Kent. The original service book shows 12 stamps up to 2003. The file contains historic invoices and old MOT certificates, plus a section with the current owners spend. This includes but is not limited to:

• All spheres replaced
• Clutch mechanism refurbished
• LHM system serviced, flushed and re filled
• New water pump fitted
• Temperature switch replaced to correctly trigger fans at 112c
• Full engine service – plugs, points, condenser, oil filter, fresh oil
• Make stainless exhaust fit – on and off the car 4 times to get the perfect fit by cutting, rebending, welding and then road testing
• Opening up both silencers to weld up rattling baffles and re-weld silencers to make silent when running
• New alloy wheels, central caps, wheel bolts and 5 x period Michelin tyres MCV-P = over £2000 spent (still have original steel wheels and tyres)
• Front ball joints replaced on both front wheels
• All internal seats/trim taken out to professionally clean and refit
• New OEM door clips to properly solve rattles in doors
• Repair small hole in drivers seat with original seat material done by vamp trimming (£500) cloth scavenged from the back of the head rests
• All interior and dashboard bulbs replaced
• Original VDO clock taken out, sent away, repaired and refitted
• Any and all wiring faults solved
• Petrol tank taken out to clean and repaint, clean inside and replace seized sender in tank
• Secondary SU petrol pump fitted
• New inline fuel filters
• Carb sonically cleaned, refurbished and main jet increased to match stainless steel exhaust (std 115, now 130)
• External rubbers and plastic chrome gutter trims and black plastic window trims replaced (900 euros plus import duties invoice from CX Basis).
• New wipers front and rear, replaced washer pipe and washer jets with OEM parts.
• Front Wheel bearings replaced
• All engine Vee belts replaced
• Tappets reset
• All engine gaskets replaced to fix any and all oil leaks
• Dab/bluetooth period blaupunkt fitted
• 40 man days spent by an ex-Citroen main agent senior engineer to  recommission this car. (£8000 labour)

Currently not MOTed (as it is exempt) but a new test will be performed for the next owner.

Light metallic blue with blue velour, optional rear sun visors, 5 speed manual gearbox, VariPower steering, electric front windows, petrol 2347cc engine, electronic tachometer, town and country air horns, laminated windscreen, single arm windscreen wiper, rear window washer and wiper, illuminated and lockable glovebox, tinted glass.

CONDITION

In stunning condition all round, seats are excellent (with one patch fix), wheels are as-new, paint is glossy and the body and underside is rust free. Interior is presented beautifully with just a few marks to one of the door cards and some rips to the fragile headlining. Tyres are new Michelin MCV-P tyres all-round. Under the bonnet and in the boot present beautifully. Motorcheck clear with certificate in hand, full book set and a full set of keys. Registered as a Historic Vehicle so tax and MOT exempt and ULEZ compliant. Can there be a better one?
